Meet the Team
Veterans Voyage CIC was founded by Natasha and Matt, who together have more than 20 years' experience working and volunteering within the military support community. Since then, the organisation has grown, with a new director joining the leadership team to help expand its reach and continue delivering vital support to veterans and their families.
Natasha Mason
A Royal Navy veteran, solicitor, volunteer and care manager.
Natasha brings over a decade of experience supporting members of the armed forces community through both professional and voluntary roles.
As a Royal Navy veteran, she understands first-hand the importance of connection, belonging and community after military service. For many years, Natasha volunteered with Plymouth Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club, helping to support veterans and military families across the local area.
Alongside her military community work, Natasha has extensive experience supporting individuals with complex care needs and disabilities. As both a care manager and family carer, she has developed a practical understanding of accessibility, inclusion and the challenges that can sometimes prevent people from participating in social activities and travel.
In April 2026, Natasha helped organise the first veterans coach holiday under the umbrella of Plymouth Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club. What began as a simple community trip quickly became something much more meaningful, creating friendships, confidence and lasting memories for those who attended.
Inspired by the impact of that experience, Natasha co-founded Veterans Voyage CIC with Matt Jackson to create more opportunities for members of the armed forces community to connect, belong and explore together.
Today, Natasha continues to combine her professional expertise, lived experience and passion for community to help ensure Veterans Voyage remains welcoming, accessible and inclusive for all.
Matt Jackson
A psychological therapist, qualified trainer, and programme manager.
Alongside their role delivering and leading programmes, Matt brings over nine years’ experience in the non-profit sector, supporting individuals and communities through therapeutic and skills-based approaches. Their work combines frontline psychological support with the design and delivery of impactful training and development programmes.
Matt is a former University Royal Naval Unit (URNU) Royal Naval Reserve Training Officer, experience which has shaped their leadership style and commitment to service. In addition to their charity work, they have also owned and operated a business, further strengthening their understanding of organisational development, leadership, and resilience.
Their diverse background across military, charitable, and business environments informs a practical, person-centred approach to both therapy and programme delivery.
Kate Hughes
Dedicated charity professional with over 15 years experience.
Based in Plymouth, she served for 12 years in the Royal Navy. Following her transition from military service in 2010, Kate has built a successful career within the military charity sector, supporting thousands of service leavers, veterans and their families. She completed a Postgraduate Degree in Coaching and Mentoring while balancing work and family life, further strengthening her commitment to empowering others. Through the Veteran Voyage project, Kate is passionate about bringing veterans together, reducing social isolation and creating opportunities for meaningful connection. She believes that strong social networks and shared experiences play a vital role in improving wellbeing and resilience. By fostering welcoming, inclusive environments, she is committed to helping veterans maintain dignity, build confidence, develop lasting friendships and feel connected to their local communities.
